Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have officially become a family of five, and this time, it’s a girl. Rihanna took to Instagram to share the first photos of her newborn daughter, cradling the little one dressed in a pink onesie and showing off her delicate ribbon-laced gloves.

She also wore a “Mom” ring in the sweet family moment, writing in the caption, “Rocki Irish Mayers. Sept 13 2025,” and tagging Rocky. The new arrival, born in Los Angeles on September 13, is the couple’s third child and their first daughter. She joins big brothers RZA, 3, and Riot, 2.

Fans first learned of Rihanna’s third pregnancy in May during a bold walk to the 2025 Met Gala, where she debuted her baby bump in a gray look with knee-high boots and a black hat. Rocky, co-chairing the event, confirmed the news himself on the red carpet, saying, “It’s time that we show the people what we was cooking up.”

At the time, he added, “It feels amazing… I’m glad everybody’s happy for us ’cause we definitely happy, you know.” Though they hadn’t always mapped out the timing, Rihanna once told Vogue that she and Rocky were open to starting a family.

“I always thought it would be marriage first, then a baby, but who the f--- says it has to be that way,” she said in 2022. “I’m certainly not gonna let that get in the way of me being a mom.”

After the couple revealed the pregnancy, a source close to the pair shared with People that Rihanna had always envisioned a big family. “They wanted to have their children close together in age, so that they could grow up together and share a close bond,” the insider said. “They feel so blessed and are so grateful for this next chapter.”

Earlier this summer, the couple hinted that baby No. 3 might be a girl. While speaking to Entertainment Tonight at The Smurfs premiere, where Rihanna voices Smurfette, Rocky was asked if they were expecting a daughter. He replied, “It is, man, it is,” and pulled out a Smurfette doll, joking, “Right here, right here.”

Rihanna was seen picking up baby clothes at English Rabbit in Beverly Hills, looking effortlessly cool. She rocked an oversized blue blazer over a white top, showing off her baby bump, paired with comfy blue cargo pants. To top it all off, she accessorized with gold jewelry, a choker, round sunglasses, and a stylish Gucci handbag.

In April 2024, Rihanna admitted to E! News that she’d “always wanted a girl,” but made clear, “God knows best, right? And I love my boys.” Her bond with her sons runs deep. “RZA is just an empath,” she said. “He’s so magical. He loves music. He loves melody. He loves books. He loves water. Bath time, swimming, pool, beach, anything.”

Parenting has shifted Rihanna’s perspective on everything. “I have a weird resentment with the things that I love,” she admitted to Harper’s Bazaar. “It’s actually given me a lot more self-guilt. I don’t like letting people down… but I also know that most of that is me letting myself down.”

“I have to keep reminding myself that I asked for this, I love this,” she added. “I try to figure out a balance so that I can feel fulfilled when I show up to something, so I can feel I don’t have any guilt.”

Her journey into motherhood has also transformed how she relates to herself. “It makes me feel really cool to be a boy mom,” she said. “I get to be as casual and busted as I want to, but it also forces me to embrace the epic things about being a woman… I wear pink.”

And as a partner, Rocky has been a rock. “The greatest thing is seeing him be a dad,” Rihanna shared. “I’m annoyed because my sons sometimes just live for him more than they live for me… And they love him, but when I see it, oh, it’s the best.”

Rocky also opened up to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, describing fatherhood as “so unexplainable… I’m a member of our club now, like the dad club. You see a dad, you see me. I’m a full dad now.” “You come home to heaven every day,” he said. “I’m so thankful. God is good, man.”

Despite the demands of parenting, Rihanna and Rocky have always maintained a strong foundation. The two began dating in late 2019, and by early 2022, Rihanna announced her first pregnancy with a now-iconic photo shoot in NYC. Just four months later, RZA was born. During her 2023 Super Bowl halftime performance, Rihanna revealed baby No. 2 was on the way. Riot arrived that August.

“We’re best friends with a baby,” Rihanna told British Vogue in 2023. “Everything changes when you have a baby, but I wouldn’t say it’s done anything but made us closer.”
