Naomi Campbell isn’t walking runways these days, she’s focused on her motherhood journey. The supermodel known for decades of dominance in fashion is now embracing a quieter, more grounded identity. “I’m just a mom. That’s how I kind of think of myself today,” she said in a new campaign, breaking tradition with the fashion world once again.
The 55-year-old mother of two stars in a cinematic short film created with fashion designer Tolu Coker for the Spring 2026 collection, a project focused on motherhood and Black womanhood in fashion.
Instead of returning to the catwalk, Campbell opted to appear in a moving, personal video that pulls back the curtain on her life away from the spotlight.
In the two-and-a-half-minute feature, Naomi opens up about raising her young son and daughter, both born via surrogate in 2021 and 2023. Though she keeps their names private, she shares rare glimpses into her parenting style and values.
“With my kids I am fun, but I’m measured in the sense of discipline. The moral standard of how I was raised in a West Indian Jamaican household,” she explains. “I find myself saying things that my grandmother would say to me,” she adds, laughing at the familiarity of generational wisdom.
Her maternal instincts didn’t arrive suddenly, Campbell says, they were always present. “Those who know me know that I have a childlike way about me. Those who know me also know that I’m shy,” she admits, before revealing, “Those who know me know more than anything in the world is what I wanted to be was a mother.”
“You know, this is a special moment, legacy. It's memories. It's nostalgic for me. Tradition,” she says in voiceover during the film. “I’ve been mothering for so many decades that it was time to mother my own,” she says, referring not just to her children, but to the friends and colleagues she’s lost.
Campbell stunned the public in 2021 when she revealed the birth of her daughter on the cover of British Vogue. In a rare interview at the time, she said, “I always knew that one day I would be a mother, but it’s the biggest joy I could ever imagine. I’m lucky to have her and I know that.” She also clarified, “She wasn’t adopted. She’s my child.”
The model kept the pregnancy a secret, sharing that only a handful of close friends knew. “I can count on one hand the number of people who knew that I was having her,” she said. Her daughter was joined by a baby brother in 2023, and Campbell remains fiercely private about their names and personal lives.
“I was never looking for a father for my kids,” she told The Times. “I’m a single mother of a single mum.” When asked if she used a surrogate, she simply replied, “I did. I hope for a better world for my children.”
She continued, “My babies are everything to me. It’s made me fear for the future. They are 110 per cent my priority. I have to be there for them on their first day at school.”
While Campbell’s maternal pride shines through in her recent interviews, her comments have sparked debate, particularly among women who’ve chosen to remain child-free. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done,” she said back in 2022. “She is the biggest blessing I could ever imagine.”
Now in her mid-50s, Naomi Campbell is proof that life doesn’t have to follow a set timeline. From catwalk queen to hands-on mother, she’s navigating her own path unapologetically.
