With Venus Williams set to walk down the aisle today, her younger sister Serena Williams reveals she had “so much planning” on her plate in the lead-up to the wedding.
The 43-year-old Grand Slam champion explained she spent the past several months pitching in wherever she could to support Venus, 45, as she prepared to tie the knot with Andrea Preti, 37.
Speaking with People, Serena shared, “We talk every day now because we have so much going on. Well, let me rephrase that. Venus has so much planning that she’s doing that I’m just talking to her all the time.” She added that her sister wanted her input on styling for the big day.
“‘Can you help me arrange this? Can you call?” Serena said. “I’m the person who gets things done. She wanted me to help her with some dresses, or was it hairstyles? She wanted literally 14 hairstyles - and she was like, ‘What do you think?’"
She continued, "So she sent me her options and within 30 minutes I had them not only done, but in a PDF file, which hairstyle looked best on everyone.”
She continued, “So I pulled out my computer because I work in [venture capital] and you just got to get things done. I’m the person that arranges things, I’m like the planner. I plan everything like the event. I’m the person that gets things done.”
Venus confirmed her engagement to Andrea in July after months of speculation that the two were preparing to wed. Speaking after her tennis match with Peyton Searns on the Women’s Tennis Association Tour, she said, “My fiancé is here, and he really encouraged me to keep playing. He’s never seen me play.”
She added, “There were so many times where I just wanted to coast and kind of chill ... He encouraged me to get through this, and it’s wonderful to be here. He’s never seen me play.”
