Cardi B is always going to be honest when it comes to her life, and she’s not holding back when it comes to what motherhood really looks like for her. The 31-year-old rapper shares: daughter Kulture, 7, son Wave, 3, and baby Blossom, 11 months, with her estranged husband Offset, and she's sharing more insight into their parenting.
The couple finally called it quits after being on and off for seven years of marriage, with Cardi filing for divorce on July 31, 2024. While their split has been messy, Cardi has always made it clear that their kids are her main priority. In an interview with Billboard, she said motherhood turned her into a "real woman." “I was like, ‘What makes a woman? Her body? Her cooking?’ It’s her maturity and her thinking,” she told the outlet. “If I didn’t have kids, I wouldn’t sacrifice so much.”
The "Bodak Yellow" star admitted that she hasn’t even had a moment to herself this summer, dropping the bombshell that she is the kids 'only provider." “I haven’t even put my feet in a pool. I do everything for my kids. I’m the only provider, and you know what? Ain’t no complaining about it." Cardi said.
For Cardi, the love she has for her kids makes it all worth it, and she had her mom as an example when it comes to providing. “If you think when you get rich you’re going to stop working, you’re never going to stop working,” she said. “I had a very rough childhood, but my mom always made sure we ain’t go to no shelter.” Now, she wants to give her kids the same security. “I want my kids to be like, ‘My mom made sure I had everything that I wanted.’”
The interview comes after Cardi threw a marker at a reporter who asked an inappropriate question about Offset. "Cardi, insiders are claiming Offset is publicly bragging about getting you pregnant for the fourth time. Do you foresee any paternity issues with Steffon Diggs?" He asked during the lunch break.
What Cardi has said in the past
Her claims about Offset track with what she said earlier this year during a heated rant on X, after it was revealed that he amended his divorce filing to request spousal support, a move Cardi says makes no sense. She explained that she asked for “no child support” because she just wants to be “done with this marriage.”
She also called him out for not being present in their children’s lives. “He has seen Blossom only like five times," she said. “I want my daughter to feel the love of her dad. He hasn’t seen his kids since March," the Grammy winner added.
Cardi went on to blast Offset—real name Kiari Cephus—for allegedly leaking false narratives to the press that misrepresented her involvement with their kids. "There is not one day he’s not allowed to see my kids,” she emphasized, explaining that she even invited him to her home to spend time with them, but claims he refused.
Between Offset’s court filings, the spousal support back-and-forth, and claims of an absentee father, Cardi’s made one thing crystal clear: she’s the one holding it down for her kids.
