While President Donald Trump continues his second term at the White House, First Lady Melania Trump remains focused on someone much closer to her heart, her 19-year-old son, Barron.
As he prepares to dive into his sophomore year at New York University’s Stern School of Business, Melania is always there for Barron, no matter where in the world she happens to be.
“She always knows where he is and what he’s doing,” a political source told People. “Melania watches Barron constantly in an effort to be sure nobody messes with him or bullies him, as this is a constant worry with her.”
While the Trumps are constantly in the spotlight, Melania has long worked to shield Barron from the political chaos that surrounds the family. Her parenting, say insiders, is rooted in both vigilance and a deep desire to preserve his privacy and peace of mind.
Barron's college experience:
Barron began his college journey in September 2024, a high-profile freshman whose first semester coincided with Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and his eventual re-election.
Instead of a dorm room and communal bathrooms, Melania opted to keep Barron in the family’s Trump Tower residence in Midtown Manhattan. “Dorm life wasn’t in the stars for Barron at this point,” a source told People last December.
“She will do everything she can to make sure Barron does well in school and is socially and mentally adjusted to his life as a college student.”
So far, it seems to be working. Barron’s presence on campus has turned heads. “He’s tall and handsome,” one insider shared. “A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive — yes, even liberal people like him.”
Melania's motherhood journey:
Even with a packed schedule of personal projects and official duties, Melania's priority remains unwavering. “Melania is quiet and behind the scenes but always busy with something she is pursuing herself,” a source said, noting that the first lady split her summer between New York, New Jersey, and Washington.
She has been working on a new documentary set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video later this year. Melania has also returned to advocacy by sharing a personal letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this month, urging him to end the war in Ukraine.
“She loves her son, she loves children, and she hates to see something like this happening,” President Trump said in a recent press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It was there that Trump jokingly admitted Melania “loves Barron more than anybody — including me, I hate to say it.”
