Salma Hayek is celebrating one of the pillars of her family. The Mexican actress and businesswoman shared a sweet tribute for her father-in-law, the businessman François Pinault. To commemorate the occasion, Hayek shared some family photos and a heartfelt tribute in French.
In a post shared on Instagram, Hayek shared some photos of a recent family vacation, showing herself and the Pinault family at the Tour de France, which they attended earlier in July.
The photos show Hayek next to her husband, François-Henri, with her father-in-law standing on the other side of the photo. They're all wearing glasses and elegant clothes, with Hayek opting for an all black look while her husband wore a light blue button up and some slacks.
François wore what appears to be a navy linen suit, which he matched with a black polo, some sneakers, and a hat. A second photo shows the Pinault family smiling for the camera, with François standing in the middle.
"Happy birthday to the beating heart of the Pinault family," wrote Hayek. "Your strength, generosity, and wisdom inspire us all every single day. We are so blessed to share life with you - may this year bring even more joy, health, and unforgettable moments." She shared the same message in French.
The Hayek-Pinault's trilingual household
Over the years, Hayek and her family have opened up about juggling languages in her home, where Spanish, French, and English are spoken. On various occasions, Hayek has revealed that her French isn't the best, but that her daughter, Valentina, has been helping her get better at it.
"It's amazing how fast it comes," said Pinault in a previous interview with PEOPLE. "She's teaching French to her mother."
In an interview with Vogue Mexico, Valentina revealed that she speaks different languages with her parents and that Spanish has become a secret language between her and her mother. “When we are with more people, I like it because it is like a secret because nobody speaks Spanish because, with my dad, I speak French,” she said.
Hayek shared her daughter's feelings, revealing that Spanish was another bond that unites them. “I speak to her in Spanish if I don’t want those around us to understand us,” she said. “Also, I think it reinforces unity, the family bond; it strengthens the bond we have.”
