Bella Ramsey is no longer on set with Pedro Pascal, but that doesn't mean their friendship is over. The 21-year-old starred in The Last of Us with the Chilean-American actor, but he had a crushing death in Season 2. But they still keep in touch, even though it's hard to run into each other sometimes.
Ramsey attended HBO’s Emmys nominees event, where they told Variety they were looking for him. “He’s here, and I have not seen him in so long. I’m looking around, trying to find him," they told the outlet.
It seems like they have a habit of being in the same place and not finding each other. “Most of our texts consist of, ‘Where in the world are you? I’m here, are you there? Oh, we just missed each other,” they said. Thankfully, this time, they ended up reuniting on stage.
Ramsey had their fair share of questions about the Fantastic Four: First Steps star at the event, which they said is very common. “It’s, ‘How is Pedro Pascal? Is he as nice as he seems?’ That’s mostly what people ask me, and the answer is, ‘Yes,’” they told Variety.
They kept the good praise going, telling AP, "I love him very deeply and will forever, and so it was kind of sad to have less with him this season." "I've definitely missed him, but I'm hoping that some at some point down the line we'll get to be together on set in a different dynamic, not as Ellie and Joel, but it's sad - the idea that we might never be Ellie and Joel again," they said.
As for what the next project could be? Ramsey told Variety they can already picture their next film. “I think maybe like a heist movie where we’re robbing a bank together,” they said.
The admiration runs both ways. In a joint interview with Esquire, Pascal told Ramsey, "You understand everything that is being communicated or said. There’s no, I don’t know what you mean. There’s always this empathic way about you. Let’s be real, you’re smarter than me."
Ramsey is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress at the Emmys for the second time, making them the first non-binary performer to earn more than one nom from the Television Academy.
Pascal is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor, earning him his fifth nomination at the awards. The Last of Us goes into Emmys night on Sept. 14 with 17 nominations.
