Lourdes Leon is getting ready to put out some new music. Madonna's eldest daughter is showing that she's following in the footsteps of the family business, sharing a video that shows her singing and playing instruments as she shares a look at her process with her fans.
Leon shared the video on her Instagram stories, showing her in the studio making music.
The clip captures her in the moment, with her singing into the microphone and having a guitar strapped to her torso. She's wearing a black top with a long silver necklace, and has her hair loose and naturally wavy.
As Leon sings, she's joined by her band, which include the keyboards and the drums.
Over the past few years, Leon has begun sharing her own music under the stage name Lolahol. While this project seems to be leaning towards pop music, she has no problem trying out different genres, with her recently showing off her skills as a DJ while performing a set in The Box, New York.
She's also performed at different festivals and events, including Primavera Sound, Madrid Brava, and Parklife in Manchester.
Leon's path as a musician
In recent years, Leon has opened up about her decision to pursue music, one that she didn't take lightly as the daughter of Madonna, one of the biggest music icons of all time.
In a 2021 chat with Debi Mazar published on Interview magazine, Leon discussed some of the advice she's receved from her mother as she began to enter the entertainment industry.
"She’s very much like, 'Proceed with caution and think about what you want to be known for.' I’ve thought a lot about that recently, because as a 'model,' you’re basically relying on your looks. It can feel very overwhelming, and can potentially cause a lot of insecurity. Obviously, you’re not going to look the same your whole life. My mom is very insistent on making me think about what I want to be known for beyond my looks. That’s not what I want people to remember me by. It’s not real," she said.
Leon also discussed how much she respectss Madonna, specifically her work ethic. "She’s probably the hardest worker I’ve ever seen. I didn’t inherit that, unfortunately," she said.
