Olivia Rodrigo is turning heads and sparking serious engagement speculation after stepping out in Los Angeles with a glittering diamond ring on that finger. The 22-year-old singer was seen hand-in-hand with British actor Louis Partridge during a casual Sunday stroll, and fans quickly noticed the eye-catching ring.
The sighting follows their PDA-filled appearance at Wimbledon just weeks ago, where the couple were seen passionately kissing in the stands. But are wedding bells really ringing for the fan-favorite couple? This is what we found out.
While the ring has certainly made headlines, there's one important detail fans realized after Olivia's outing. The singer has worn that very same piece before. In a past interview with GQ, she revealed the emotional backstory.
“I was really close with her, and she helped me through a lot, and she got me this ring when we wrapped. It says ‘WRITE THE SONGS OF YOUR HEART,’” Rodrigo said, referring to a meaningful gift from her makeup artist during her High School Musical days.
Despite the pair not thinking about marriage just yet, they seem to be going strong. The pair have been quietly building a romance since first being spotted together in London back in October 2023. By December, they were seen kissing in New York City, confirming what fans had long suspected.
Their connection has even made its way into Olivia’s music. In her 2023 track 'So American,' she sings, “Oh God, I'm gonna marry him / If he keeps this s**t up.” At Glastonbury this past June, she introduced the song with a nod to her Brit boyfriend. “
One thing you should know about me is I f**king love England, I love England so much. As luck would have it, I also really love English boys. I wrote this next song about getting to know a boy from England who loves beans on a jacket potato. I took all our little jokes and made a song," she said on stage.
In an October 2024 interview with Elle, when asked if So American was about him, the actor said. “Not my song, not my place. So I wouldn’t know.” He did, however, share that Rodrigo’s taste has rubbed off on him musically. “My girlfriend has been trying to get me into more pop recently. Chappell Roan has been on repeat," he said.
Partridge described himself as the classic “golden retriever” boyfriend in a British Vogue interview. “I think in past relationships my mind worked at a different speed to the women I’ve known. A bit slower. The way I would characterize it is like a Golden Retriever and a black cat. I can imagine being happy sitting and catching a Frisbee.”
He also acknowledged the pressures of dating someone as famous as Olivia. “I think she’s got it a lot worse than I have,” he admitted. “I can be a bit of a normal person. She's got tons and tons of eyes on her case. Dating probably shouldn’t be done in the public eye. There’s enough going on between two people. You don’t need the voices of thousands of others in your head.”
