Lauren Sanchez Bezos's special appearance in 'Fantastic Four' surprises fans

With the buzz building around 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps,' fans are diving back into the original 2005 and 2007 films that helped define Marvel’s early cinematic era. Alongside iconic cast members Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Ioan Gruffudd, and Julian McMahon, another familiar face has resurfaced to the surprise of many: Lauren Sánchez Bezos.

While many may recognize Lauren for her real-life broadcast career, she actually made on-screen appearances as herself in both 'Fantastic Four' and 'Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.' A fitting role, considering her background in journalism.

Throughout her time in the media spotlight, she also carved out a small niche in Hollywood, often portraying a news anchor in major films like 'Fight Club' and 'The Day After Tomorrow.'

One of the more charming aspects of Lauren's involvement in the 'Fantastic Four' franchise has less to do with her screen time and more with the lasting friendship it sparked. Lauren and Jessica Alba, who played Sue Storm, have been close since at least 2005.

The two have shared the spotlight at many public events, and their bond has remained strong through the years. Jessica even attended Lauren’s recent lavish wedding to Jeff Bezos and has been publicly supportive of her, particularly in the face of criticism surrounding her Blue Origin spaceflight.

The friendship between the two women, both on and off-screen, adds a personal layer to the 'Fantastic Four' nostalgia. As viewers revisit the earlier superhero classics, Lauren’s unexpected cameo moments are once again catching attention.

Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lauren studied broadcast journalism at the University of Southern California. She launched her news career in 1999, anchoring UPN News 13 on KCOP in Los Angeles. Her work there earned her and her team a Los Angeles Area Emmy Award in 2001.

Her career only expanded from there. In 2003, she joined Fox 11’s Good Day LA, where she anchored for six years. By 2009, Sánchez had taken on the role of weekend anchor and special correspondent for Extra.
