Kelly Ripa admits she has 'hours' of turtles mating on her phone

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have shared some spicy stories on their show Live with Kelly and Mark, but they ventured into the animal kingdom on Friday's episode. The 54-year-old host even quipped that she has "hours" of "turtle porn" on her phone.

It all started when Consuelos brought up the influx of fireflies, and he dove into the science behind their special lights. "You know when they flash, you know what they're doing? It's like a mating call," Consuelos told his wife. 

The actor went on to compare it to the world of dating apps: "The female firefly is either swiping right or swiping left." He kept the fun facts coming: "Some species of fireflies mate with multiple partners, and others have some monogamous males."

Things got even weirder with Consuelos explaining, "Some fireflies even give a nuptial gift as they mate, which is a packet of proteins, amino acids, and fats that can help a female with her eggs."

Ripa couldn't resist making a dirty joke, "I mean, we've all received that gift," before moving on to the topic of turtles mating. 

The couple reminisced on a time they saw a group of turtles making love. "Basically, they just run around, mate, and eat. That's all they've got going on," she explained. "We've actually gotten to see the tortoises mate, and let me tell you, it's as weird as you think."

One thing that made an everlasting impression on Consuelos was the "interesting sound" they made. The actor even gave his best impression of what he heard before explaining that there is a third turtle that is on the lookout while the other two are getting at it.

Ripa jumped in to explain the logistics, "She, the female, or, I guess I should call her - I don't know if it's a she - the bottom, to be clear, I don't want to misgender anybody," she said. If you are wondering, Ripa was correct, and it's typically the female on the bottom. 

She shared more steamy turtle information, "The bottom party eats the entire time, doesn't even bother. Doesn't bother looking up - it's just like, 'You're busy back there, I'm gonna stick with my grasses.'"

"I have hours and hours of turtle porn on my phone," adding, "At a certain point, it gets weird. I set some to Barry White music!" So, some fun animal facts for everybody on this Friday, courtesy of one of Hollywood's favorite couples.
