The Colombian actress received praise from her fans after an NFL player's representative reportedly dismissed her as “too old,” even though their age difference is less than 10 years

Sofía Vergara's fans are not here for the ageist drama, especially when it involves football royalty, Tom Brady. After a July 10 statement from Tom Brady's rep firmly denied rumors that the former NFL quarterback had dismissed Sofía Vergara as "too old" to date, social media lit up with passionate defenses of the 53-year-old actress.

Brady's rep told People, "Tom never said, nor would he ever say, anything like this. It is pure fiction." The denial came in direct response to a Daily Mail report earlier that day, quoting an anonymous source who claimed that while Tom finds Sofía "beautiful" and "his type," he wasn't pursuing anything serious because she's "older and stuck in her ways."

Fans Rally Behind Sofía

The age gap between the pair is a mere six years—Tom is 47, Sofía Vergara is 53. Fans quickly pointed out how laughable it is to frame that as a deal-breaker. "I'm sorry, but Tom's no spring chicken," one fan clapped back on Instagram. "Six years ain't really much of an age difference when you're over 30," another chimed in.

Several even speculated the rumors might be Brady's damage control. "Maybe she rejected him and he is overcompensating with all these unsolicited 'reasons,'" a third joked.

Fans argued that if anyone is "stuck in their ways," it might just be the source spreading outdated ideas about age and dating.

Sofía Vergara's Power Era Is Not Slowing Down

Sofía Vergara is thriving. "The Modern Family" alum, who just celebrated her birthday with family and friends, recently starred in Netflix's "Griselda," turning in a dark, captivating performance that reminded Hollywood of her serious acting chops.

Not to mention, she's been lighting up red carpets and Vanity Fair parties like she's just getting started. From high-fashion Instagram posts to tropical vacations and spicy date rumors, Vergara's 2025 is looking like a masterclass in living your best life post-divorce (she split from Joe Manganiello in 2023).

Which is probably why the suggestion that she's too "stuck in her ways" to date is getting laughed off the internet. "If this is what being stuck in your ways looks like, where do I sign up?" one fan wrote.

Celebrity Dating Rumor Mill

Whispers of a potential romance between Vergara and Brady began earlier this month when the actress posted a snapshot from a glitzy dinner aboard a superyacht. The star-studded pic featured Vergara seated near Brady, with J Balvin also in the mix.

Neither Tom nor Sofía has confirmed anything romantic, but that hasn't stopped fans (and tabloids) from imagining what a Hollywood-Brady power couple might look like.

While Tom Brady has stayed mostly private since his divorce from Gisele Bündchen in 2022, any potential connection with a woman as admired as Vergara will be scrutinized.

Brady's rep may have squashed the comments, but fans weren't waiting for a press release to come to Sofía's defense. They're rewriting the narrative in real-time, and making it clear that in 2025, being over 50 and fabulous isn't just accepted, it's aspirational.
