Jennifer Lopez is reclaiming her power and stepping back into the spotlight with a raw new anthem that is already striking a chord with fans around the world. On Tuesday night in Spain, during her much-anticipated 'Up All Night' world tour, the 55-year-old performer paused her high-energy setlist to introduce a deeply personal new song.

JLo decided to perform for the first time her new track 'Wreckage of You,'  revealing that it is a personal and emotional song about a difficult moment in her life. “This is a song that is a new song that I want to sing for the first time tonight that came to me when I was up all night one night,” she told the crowd.

The singer then launched into the heartfelt ballad, which many fans believe draws on her recent split from Ben Affleck. Though she never mentioned him by name, the lyrics were filled with themes of growth, heartbreak, and healing.

“The love I want, the love I need, it starts in me. Now I found my way here, I’m gonna stay there. Thank you for the scars you left on my heart, was showing me that stars shine brighter in the dark,” she sang. “I won’t fall apart because of who we are, but your broken parts.”

In the chorus, she sang about self-discovery and resilience. “Because of you, I am stronger, wiser,” Lopez continued. “Better than I've ever been. I won't let you no longer, longer, ever say goodbye to me. It was perfect the while that you made me believe, really got only greater for me, and it made me stronger, stronger, bulletproof. Now watch me climb out of the wreckage of you.”

The performance came just six months after she finalized her divorce from Affleck. The two married in July 2022, rekindling their early 2000s romance, and split two years later. Fans first heard “Wreckage of You” at a private listening party in Los Angeles earlier this month.

She debuted that track along with five others and gave an incredible performance while wearing a show-stopping look, which consisted of a sequin bodysuit featuring a plunging neckline. She styled the look with her signature voluminous hair and glamorous makeup look.

Earlier this year, she opened up in an interview with Spanish publication El País about how she handled the divorce, especially in regard to her twins, Max and Emme, whom she shares with Marc Anthony. She described the conversation she had with them and the promise she made.

“I said, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you’re going to see that I’ll come out the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them that and I did it. And they feel it now. That gives me a great sense of peace in my life,” Lopez said.

She added that this sense of peace is part of why she is so ready to return to the stage. “I’m happier that I’m a step further along than I was a year ago, two years ago, three years ago,” she said. “I’m proud of myself for that, and I’m proud that I was able to navigate my children through difficult times, that they’re stronger and better because of it.”
