Vera Wang is continuing to prove that women don't have to change their sense of style just because of their age. The acclaimed designer just turned 76 on June 27th, and she is still one of the best-dressed divas out there! On Monday, she shared a gallery of photos from Paris, shopping at Prada with a midriff-revealing look.
Wang rocked a cropped black sweater and long black skirt that had a fun belt around the waist with chains, showing off her toned tummy. She wore chunky black boots, sunglasses, and a black handbag. "When shopping at PRADA in PARIS…. Avenue Montaigne …35 meters from my airconditioning…. trying to be a bit fashionyyyy," she captioned the gallery.
Vera's birthday celebration
Wang celebrated her birthday surrounded by loved ones with a birthday dinner in New York and another one in Paris.
She then woke up to a special birthday breakfast in bed, which she called a "dream" and a "rare event." Wang celebrated her birthday with a black jersey that had "76" on it before slipping into a black gown for another birthday dinner. In true Vera Wang fashion, she had 76 on her arm in gold.
Wang's life before she was designer
Wang was born in 1949 and initially pursued a career in figure skating before transitioning to fashion when she didn't make it to the Olympics. She was hired to be an editor at Vogue after graduating from Sarah Lawrence College and was the youngest editor at that magazine.
In 1987, she left Vogue after 17 years to join Ralph Lauren, and when she was 40, she resigned and became an independent bridal wear designer. The rest, is history, with Wang dressing stars like Ariana Grande, Vanessa Hudgens, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Victoria Beckham, Khloe Kardashian, and Kim Kardashian.
As far as her personal life, she shares, Cecilia and Josephine, with her ex-husband, Arthur Becker. The couple divorced in 2012 after 23 years of marriage. She denied having an affair with 27-year-old Olympic figure skater Evan Lysacek in 2013, and hasn't had a high-profile relationship since.
What is Wang’s secret?
It may come as a surprise that Wang doesn’t have any wild regimens, at least that she has shared. In October 2023, she told Page Six, she has a strong relationship with McDonald’s. “I do eat McDonald’s, absolutely,” she told the outlet. Wang even orders it every day sometimes. “I order it every day, like two weeks on it, and then I’ll change," she said.
