Barbie Ferreira turned heads over the weekend at the Mediterranean Film Festival, where she received the event’s inaugural Rising Star award. The actress, who exited HBO's Euphoria, and has been more active in Broadway and Hollywood, made headlines for the special recognition and a celebratory bikini moment.
Soaking up the Mediterranean sun, the 27-year-old proudly showed off her curves in a bold string bikini featuring the Brazilian flag, as a nod to her roots. With wet hair, glowing skin, and the sea behind her, she posed by the beach.
The post was captioned, “Thank you @mediterranefilmfestival for the Rising Star award," she added. "This week in Malta has been perfection." Barbie documented her time in Malta, proving that she continues to succeed in her professional career.
Ferreira, who rose to fame as Kat Hernandez on Euphoria, accepted her trophy from presenters Anna Camp and Jared Harris. For the occasion, she wore a black plunging gown with a deep V neckline and silver hoops, keeping her hair and glam minimal, while a peek of her chest tattoo added edge to the elegant look.
The festival, now in its second year, wrapped on Sunday night after screening 55 films from over 20 countries across Malta’s archipelago. Ferreira’s award was one of several major industry honors handed out at the closing gala.
Oscar-winner Russell Crowe returned to the island where he filmed 'Gladiator' to receive the Malta Film Legend award. “If you want to know what I love about Malta, it’s everything — twenty-six years ago I became a man here,” he told the audience.
British producer Jeremy Thomas received the Lifetime Achievement Golden Bee, while the top feature prize, the Golden Bee for Best Film, went to 'Where the Wind Comes From,' a Tunisian-French road drama from debut director Amel Guellaty.
