Shakira's Los Angeles concert has been delayed. Her team issued a statement sharing the news that the concert date would be rescheduled to a new date, likely due to the ongoing protests that are taking place in the city.
Shakira's concert was initially scheduled for June 20th and has been rescheduled for August 4th, giving people plenty of time to make the necessary arrangements.
According to various news outlets, Ticketmaster sent a notification to ticket owners, sharing the new date and an explanation why the show's date was pushed back. "We've worked with the organizers of the event to reschedule your event and make sure you'll have the chance to go. Your tickets are still valid for the new date," reads the statement, per Infobae.
While Shakira has yet to address these changes, social media users have shared their thoughts online. It's also not the first time in the tour where she's postponed or canceled dates, citing technical difficulties in a handful of her shows.
"Shakira, I love you but you've canceled the concert twice!!!!! The hotel doesn't believe me that you're still canceling concerts in California," reads a comment in Spanish.
"Girl you really arent gonna say anything about the shows being postponed?? Not gonna say anything about what’s going on?" wrote a second person.
What's going on in Los Angeles?
Over the past couple of days, protests have erupted in Los Angeles, with some residents decrying the rising wave of ICE raids that are taking place across the country.
The instances have prompted a wave of support from all manner of celebrities, including Eva Longoria, Vanessa Bryant, Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato, and more.
In an interview with the BBC, Shakira stood up for the Latin community and shared her thoughts on immigration.
"Being an immigrant in the U.S. means living in constant fear. And it's painful to see. I hope they can be treated well and that we all can be treated well under principles of equity and freedom. Principles that shaped this nation," she said.
