Ivanka Trump has been known for her platinum blonde hair for decades, a signature look she shares with her late mother, Ivana Trump. However, her natural color is much darker and quite different from the golden hues she’s rocked in recent years.
Growing up in the spotlight, Ivanka has maintained a polished image, but photos from her childhood and teenage years in the ’90s reveal a very different shade, closer to a dark blond or sandy light brown than the warm butter-blond she now has.
This is not surprising considering how common it is for blond children to see their hair darken over time. Early pictures of her father, Donald Trump, show he also had blond hair before it shifted to a darker tone, similar to Ivanka’s natural shade.
Ivanka occasionally embraces her roots. Social media photos, including those she shared from her sister Tiffany Trump’s baby shower, display darker roots growing along her middle part.
Ivanka's hair journey included different shades:
Ivanka’s signature blonde wasn’t always the same. According to celebrity colorist Kyle White, who has worked with her, “Ivanka's blond is created by weaving foil highlights on her natural base color. The highlights are woven with a medium-size thickness and lifted to a pale baby blond," he shared with Yahoo! in 2017.
In her mother Ivana Trump’s book 'Raising Trump,' Ivanka recalled her rebellious youth, including a time when she dyed her hair blue. “One day after school, I dyed my hair blue,” Ivanka wrote (via The Cut). “Mom wasn’t a fan of this decision. She took one look at me and immediately went out to the nearest drugstore to buy a $10 box of Nice ‘n Easy.”
Ivana chose a color three shades lighter than Ivanka’s natural hair, and ever since, Ivanka hasn’t looked back. While Ivanka hasn’t openly discussed any damage caused by dye and bleach treatments, she has been spotted wearing hair extensions, which could indicate possible thinning or breakage.
