Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry may soon be on the market. The A-list couple has been making headlines this week, and according to sources, their relationship is not doing well, and they are waiting for the right time to split.
Following reports by People that Perry's 143 album put "stress" on their relationship, insiders told Page Six, "It's over." The space-visiting singer is currently on her Lifetimes tour, which runs until December 7. According to the insider, they’re waiting until the tour ends before making the split official.
Perry has been on tour since April 23, but her album 143 dropped on September 20, 2024, to mixed reactions. A People insider said the “Firework” singer was “deeply frustrated” by the reception and that it left her “very stressed.” “Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension,” they explained.
Her tour has also brought in both glowing and critical reviews, which the insider said left her “disappointed” and added even more “stress” to the relationship. Still, it hasn’t all been bad—she’s sold out many of her shows, including the entire Australian leg.
The couple’s love story
Katy and Orlando first met in 2016 at a Golden Globes after-party. Perry opened up about their first encounter in 2019 on American Idol when he was still her boyfriend. “I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out,” she explained. “We were at the Golden Globes, and we weren’t together. So I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs, and all of a sudden I saw my boyfriend’s hand—he wasn’t even sitting at our table—he just swoops in and grabs one, and I was like, ‘Hey, that’s my burger!’”
Their first breakup
It wouldn’t be the first time they’ve split. The couple broke up in February 2017 when she had poor album sales. It was a time that she said made her feel suicidal. “Gratitude is probably the thing that saved my life,” Perry told SiriusXM's CBC Radio One at the time. “Because if I did not find that, I would have wallowed in my own sadness and probably just jumped.”
They rekindled their romance a few months later and made their first red carpet-appearance together in September 2018.
Orlando proposed to Katy on Valentine’s Day in 2019 with a flower-shaped diamond ring, and they welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove, on August 26, 2020. Despite being engaged for 6 years, they never walked down the aisle.
