Lizzo made a striking appearance at the 2025 BET Awards, which had fans talking about her incredible weight loss journey. Though she skipped the red carpet, the Grammy-winning singer showed off her look inside Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, wearing a daring black ensemble that emphasized her figure.
The outfit featured a fitted long-sleeve minidress with a plunging neckline, framing her curves. The ensemble was paired with a black leather corset that cinched her waist and created an hourglass shape.
Lizzo complemented the look with sparkling diamond studs, hoop earrings, a Cuban link chain featuring an oversized diamond-encrusted “Yitty” pendant, which is a nod to her inclusive shapewear brand, and a collection of silver and diamond rings.
Despite avoiding the red carpet, Lizzo appeared happy and confident, posing for photos with fellow artists including SZA, Tichina Arnold, Tisha Campbell, Shaboozey, Jamie Foxx, and others.
Lizzo’s appearance follows months of discussions about her health journey. On TikTok Live in April, she revealed some key changes that helped her lose 16% body fat and reduce her BMI by 10.5 points.
Instead of sugary breakfasts, she now opts for savory foods like almond butter on toast, emphasizing that “everybody’s body is different” and that “calories in versus calories out” remains the scientific truth.
Reflecting on the mindset shift that fueled her transformation, Lizzo shared, “I loved to distract myself with people. I loved to distract myself with food. I loved to distract myself with drinking. I loved to distract myself with problems that I would create. I would love to do that. And I stopped doing that. And I just focused on me.”
Lizzo explained on the 'On Purpose With Jay Shetty' podcast, “I did not want to lose anything. I wanted to win.” She also expressed her desire to be intentional about her language because “there’s young people who are watching me and they’re experiencing what I’m putting into the world.”
Recently, Lizzo addressed the pressures of public scrutiny on weight, saying, “Be careful with your words because it can affect somebody in ways you don’t even know... Even me releasing the weight has affected people and I take that seriously. I take that responsibility.”
