Jennifer Lopez is confidently embracing her single life following her divorce from Ben Affleck, making it clear that she’s in no rush to find love again or let anyone “ruin” her happiness.
At the 2025 American Music Awards on May 26, the singer and performer, 55, who was hosting the show, had a candid moment with comedian Tiffany Haddish, 45, who joked about “manhunting” for a partner that night.
Jennifer laughed it off and told Access Hollywood, “Girl, I’m not looking for no man. I’m happy right now. I’m not trying to ruin it, okay?”
JLo further emphasized her statement by sharing the brief interview clip on Instagram just days later, captioning it with a playful nod to Céline Dion: “In the words of the great Céline Dion, ‘I do it for mah-self’"
Jennifer’s post-divorce happiness comes after finalizing her split from Affleck earlier this year. The pair rekindled their early 2000s romance in 2021 and married, but the marriage lasted two years before ending amicably.
Reflecting on her journey through heartbreak and healing, Jennifer opened up in an October 2024 conversation with Interview magazine, sharing a rare glimpse into her emotional process following the separation.
“I think my whole life I’ve just been trying to say I’m good enough, until where I am now, when I know. I’m giving myself credit. I’m telling that little girl that grew up in the Bronx, ‘You’ve done really good for yourself,’” she said. “I didn’t do that for so many years.”
She also spoke of resilience during the interview and her new life chapter. “I was thinking about this time in my life, and I’m like, ‘That’s not what I thought it was going to turn out like.’ And then I thought, ‘No, this is exactly where I needed to be, to lead me to where I want to go.’”
Since the divorce, JLo has thrown herself into her career and her role as a mom to her twins Max and Emme. A source told Us Weekly in February that “J. Lo is starting to feel like herself again,” emphasizing that she is focused on her happiness and being a good mom.
She previously reflected on the lessons learned from her marriage and breakup with the actor. “But you have to be healthy. You have to be complete, if you want something that’s more complete. You have to be good on your own. I thought I learned that, but I didn’t. And then, this summer, I had to be like, ‘I need to go off and be on my own. I want to prove to myself that I can do that.’”
Meanwhile, Ben recently shared his thoughts during an interview with GQ. "There's no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue,” he told the publication. "It's just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do."
