Karol G loves food, especially if Colombian. The singer has been promoting her new documentary film, "Tomorrow was Beautiful," and opening up about her heritage and her family in ways that she hasn't been able to in the past. In a new clip, Karol has opened up about some of her favorite Colombian foods, sharing some of her favorite spots in Medellin, the meals that her parents make her, and the Colombian dish that she's sampled in countries all over the world.
The video was shared on Instagram by the account Netflix Colombia. In it, Karol is sitting and addressing the camera directly. She wears a white corset with jeans and a blue cowboy hat.
"I have to say, I'm a professional taster of Bandeja Paisas across the globe," she said. "Colombia has some amazing dishes, but if I'm talking about my mom's cooking, I'm choosing sopita de guineo." The dish is a traditional soup made in Colombia that revolves around guineo, a green plantain that's very common in the area.
"I'm a sopita de guineo lover. I love my mom's sopita de guineo," she said with a laugh. "I love my family's cooking."
Karol also revealed the first meal she eats whenever she arrives in Medellin, her hometown. "The hot dogs from San Diego. They're my favorite. This is not paid publicity, this is reality," she said. She added that while she loved fast foods, like pizza, burgers, french fries, and chicharron, she'll always opt for her family's cooking if she has the choice. "Those dishes are my favorites."
