Lindsay Lohan, whose career has enjoyed a resurgence, dubbed the “Lohanaissance” by fans following her roles in Our Little Secret, Irish Wish, and a cameo in the 2024 teen musical comedy Mean Girls, reveals that stepping behind the camera is next on her bucket list.
“Eventually, at some point, I really, really do want to direct. It's definitely something on my bucket list.”
Fans of the Mean Girls icon have celebrated every new move, dubbing this era of her career the “Lohanaissance” as she effortlessly blends nostalgia, comedy and heart in her latest projects.
Having practically grown up under the watchful eye of top filmmakers, Lindsay laughs that the set has been her unofficial film school. “I’ve grown up on sets, and I’ve learned so much from the directors and people that I’ve worked with. I don’t know when, but at some point!”
Off-screen, life is just as sweet. The 38-year-old actress beams about her days at home with her husband, Bader Shammas, and their two-year-old son, Luai. “I feel great, I’m really happy, I love what I’m doing. I feel like when I was younger, everything was just moving so quick.”
“Now it’s nice that I’m older and wiser, and I know how to take moments for myself to relax.”
Work hard, play hard, and love hard, too. Lindsay pours her all into each performance but reserves her biggest embraces for family time. “I like to give my work my all, but then when I’m with my son, I wanna give him my all, or my husband, I wanna give him my all. I like to have all those parts of my life working together.”
Between bedtime hugs with Luai and impromptu couple massages with Bader, she’s mastering the art of balance. “I think a massage is nice. The other night, I was like, to my husband, ‘We’re getting couple massages, it’s not up for debate, it’s just happening.’”
“And cuddling with my son before he sleeps, that actually relaxes me a lot, just holding him. I just want to savor these moments.”
