"Peace be with you all! This is the first greeting spoken by the Risen Christ, the Good Shepherd. I would like this greeting of peace to resound in your hearts, in your families, and among all people, wherever they may be, in every nation and throughout the world," reads his message, which was shared on the Pontifex account, previously manned by Pope Francis, on all social media outlets.

Pope Leo shared his thoughts in multiple languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, and more.

On his Instagram, Leo shared various images of the past couple of days, showing him greeting a large audience of people from the balcony in the Vatican, when he was first introduced to the world as the leader of the Catholic Church.

More images show him blessing babies, greeting devoted followers, giving mass, and visiting Pope Francis' grave.

Pope Leo XIV was elected as the Catholic Church's leader on Tuesday, May 8, after a short conclave that lasted a day.

This week, the Pope has been busy, attending the Jubilee of the Eastern Catholic Churches, hosted in the Vatican, which he also posted about on social media. "Christ is risen. He is truly risen! It is very moving for me to see you here during the Jubilee of Hope, a hope unshakably grounded in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Welcome to Rome!" reads his caption.

He also met the Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, the current number 1 player in the world according to ATP rankings, with the two bonding over their love of the sport. Sinner gave the Pope a tennis racket and offered to play with him.

“It’s an honor,” said Sinner, who arrived in the Vatican alongside his parents for a private meeting
