Christopher Schwarzenegger is opening up about his weight loss journey. The 27-year-old son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver shared the details of his impressive physical transformation at Beacher Vitality’s Happy & Healthy Summit in Los Angeles.
During the panel discussion on Saturday, which featured host Jeff Beacher, Dr. Robert Huizenga, and Kelly Osbourne, who has also been open about her transformation in recent years, Christopher explained the process behind his weight loss.
“It was a big process,” he said, reflecting on his years of work to shed the pounds. Christopher first began making changes to his lifestyle back in 2019 while living in Australia.
It was during this time that he realized how much his weight was limiting his ability to fully enjoy life. “I just saw how much my weight was prohibiting me from doing the everyday activities,” he recalled. He shared a specific moment when he wanted to try skydiving, but his friends quickly shot down the idea, saying it wasn’t a realistic option for him at the time. “I was like, ‘I can’t skydive,’” he remembered.
The issue of body image wasn’t new for Christopher. In fact, he admitted that his struggles with weight began as early as high school. “I tried everything. I was doing meal delivery things in high school, and I remember feeling like a weirdo when I was bringing weird lunches to school,” he confessed.
Christopher explained that his weight loss was not fast. It required a lot of trial and error, including exercising and adjusting his diet. It was a process that took time, patience, and perseverance.
Among the changes he made, one of the most significant was giving up bread for Lent. He explained that during the 40-day period, he “lost 30 pounds just through that.”
Christopher noted that he still doesn’t feel like he’s reached his ultimate goal. “Even still to this day … when you’re saying, oh, before-and-after photos … I don’t feel like I’m an ‘after’ yet. I don’t feel like I’m at the point,” he said.
