Celebrity hairstylist Barry Lee Moe is expressing his deep gratitude to Jennifer Lopez after surviving a terrifying car accident that left his belongings reduced to ash. The two-time Emmy winner, who has styled the actress on multiple projects, shared the emotional story on social media.
Barry took to Instagram on Wednesday to recount what happened, while driving along Interstate 40 near Amarillo, Texas, during his solo journey home to Los Angeles.
“My little Jeep caught fire while driving down I-40 near Amarillo, Texas on the legendary Route 66,” he wrote. “It was a fire so powerful, that it took my jeep, my most treasured personal belongings, and a large portion of my professional kit. In less than 30 minutes, I watched a corner of my world disappear before my eyes.”
The stylist, who is known for his work in multiple movies and television, including 'Atlas,' 'POSE,' 'Pam & Tommy,' and many more, had just wrapped three months of location work, and he was on his way back to Los Angeles.
He began his drive home last Saturday, documenting his road trip, until the journey abruptly turned disastrous. “On Monday, I was halfway home to LA, when my trip abruptly ended,” he detailed.
“For those of you who know me well, I love to drive and traveling cross country has always been exciting for me," Barry shared on Instagram. While the loss of his vehicle and gear was devastating, he shared his gratitude for everyone who had been there for support, including Jennifer Lopez and her team.
He thanked those who came to his aid in his emotional post. “Thank you to everyone who came to my rescue in the last 48 hours,” he wrote. “I am truly blessed to be surrounded with so much love and I am so grateful for all of you."
He continued, "Especially the staff at the @barfieldhotel in Amarillo, who took me in like family and team @jlo and Office Romance, who got me safely home from Texas without question. I love you all.”
He also shared images of the remains of his Jeep, sharing the aftermath of the fire. While physically unharmed, he admitted the event left him emotionally shaken. “Life is so fragile, and to walk away from this incident without injury is truly a miracle,” he shared.
“My entire outlook on life has changed for the better and in a strange way, I feel reborn," Barry confessed. “Behind all the polished posts and achievements, are sleepless nights, struggles, and tears. We need compassion and community more than ever before.”
“I was given the gift of perspective Monday and I will never take the little things in life for granted ever again," he declared. “Life is happening right now. Embrace the present, live your life with purpose, and LOVE freely & fully, because we only get one chance to do this.”
