Richard Gere and his wife, Alejandra Silva, are enjoying their new life chapter in Spain. The celebrity couple moved to Madrid with their kids at the end of 2024, with the actor recently revealing that he is happier than ever, spending quality time with his family in the country.
After relocating, Alejandra talked to the Daily Mail and shared a glimpse at their life in Spain, explaining that they are "coming back" to the United States, as they plan to live in Madrid for a "few years" before returning to the U.S.
“We're always coming back. We'll come back here in the summer because we have the kids at camp,” Alejandra explained to the publication. “For a few years [we’ll live in Spain], and then come back.” She emphasized the importance of balancing their lives between Spain and the U.S. for their children.
The couple, who married in 2018, shares two sons, 6-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old James. Alejandra explained how the family’s relocation was motivated by her desire to be closer to her roots. “I'm with my family ... I missed them a lot. But I miss the U.S. So we come back and forth,” she said.
Back in April 2024, the actor shared his thoughts with Vanity Fair. "For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends, and her culture. She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers.”
The star also shared that he sold his $11 million Connecticut home in October 2024 as part of the move. Gere's son Homer, from his previous marriage to Carey Lowell, expressed how much he misses his father and stepfamily. "I've been told they're going to move back within the next few years, so hopefully that's the case because I miss them here," he said to the Daily Mail.
