In a heartwarming return to their podcast, 'Sorry We’re Cyrus,' Noah Cyrus and her mother, Tish, discussed everything from weddings to their evolving relationship, offering insight into their personal lives after the pair made headlines for rumors about their family drama.
During their candid conversation, the singer revealed that she has always had an inclination toward marriage, even in her early twenties. Reflecting on her upbringing and the example set by her mother, Noah shared how her thoughts on love and commitment have shaped her life.
“I always wanted to get married, like, every relationship I’ve had I’ve thought about marrying them,” Noah explained. “My explanation was always, ‘Well, my mom had her first kid by the time she was 21.’ I don’t think of that as, like, an ‘oopsie age.’ I think of that was, ‘Well, I’ve been working since I was 15. Why couldn’t I have a child when I’m in my early 20s or why couldn’t I get married in my early 20s?’ That was something I really wanted.”
Her desire to marry young seems to be influenced by Tish’s own experiences. Despite the ups and downs of her past relationships, Noah has always seen early commitment as something she aspired to. The conversation turned even more personal as the two reflected on their family dynamics.
Tish opened up about the profound changes in her life, especially after her children became adults. “My life changed so much,” she said, recalling her years of raising kids. “I did nothing but [raise] kids for my entire life. It was so crazy, and then to have you guys all out of the house and you’re so independent now. It’s just so weird.”
Now that her children are grown, Tish is navigating her own path, trying to rediscover who she is beyond motherhood. “I’m figuring out who I am and what my dreams are outside of being a mom,” Tish admitted. “The only thing I ever did was be a mom. It’s so crazy."
Noah expressed her gratitude for her mother’s constant support, especially when things get tough. “We still need our mommy so bad,” Noah declared. “Whenever I’m down or whenever [my siblings] are down, we call my mom or she calls us. How many times a week do you answer the phone and I’m crying? A lot, like, and she’ll answer, ‘What’s wrong?’ But, now we always call her through anything.”
The family’s bond has certainly stood the test of time, and despite any past drama, Tish remains a key figure in Noah’s life, both as a mother and a mentor. Noah also mentioned how her mom has formed a close relationship with her fiancé, Pinkus, whom she became engaged to in June 2023.
“It’s really cute because my fiancé and my mom are really close,” Noah gushed. “I love that so much because my past boyfriends, my mom has not been close with. Well, my first one you tried to be and then the rest were just, like, [a] plane crash. We got through it, and now I’m with a nice, little German man.”
Tish and Noah’s relationship has had its struggles, particularly after Tish’s relationship with Dominic Purcell, whom she married in 2023. In fact, Noah’s romance with Purcell reportedly caused tension between the two, with sources revealing that Noah did not attend Tish and Purcell’s wedding in August 2023.
A source shared with Us Weekly that the mother-daughter duo is working toward mending their relationship. “Noah and Tish are working on rebuilding their relationship,” the source revealed. “It’s been a slow burn and has been very up and down the last several months, but Noah has been more open to the idea of having Tish in her life again.”
