Kourtney Kardashian's strict food rules criticized by one of her children

Kourtney Kardashian Barker has made it clear that she doesn't play around when it comes to food. From organic-only snacks to strict bans on artificial ingredients, the "The Kardashians" star has always kept a tight grip on what her kids eat. But now, one of her children is starting to push back, and their latest exchange proves that even the most disciplined wellness moms eventually hit a roadblock.

On a new episode of "The Kardashians," Kris Jenner does what any fun grandma would do—loads up the kids for a pumpkin patch adventure, complete with lollipops and Gatorade. But the second Kourtney Kardashian arrives, she immediately clocks the snack situation.

"Saint, dipping the lollipop into the Gatorade? Next level," she says, watching her nephew invent a new sugar-fueled treat. She then turns to Kris with her classic, unimpressed tone: "I can't believe that's the snacks that you guys have."

Kris, being Kris, shrugs it off. "I didn't pick 'em!" she says. But Kourtney isn't letting it slide. "I gave specifics and I said no food coloring, which is Gatorade. I gave specific popsicles."

Kris, pretending to be just as shocked, fires back with a line that could've come straight from Kourtney's Poosh blog: "Who buys Gatorade? It's like eating poison."

And then, the unexpected happens. Penelope Disick, 12, jumps in to defend the enemy. "Mom, it's fine. He already had it," she says, clearly over the entire debate. And in a rare moment, Kourtney backs down: "Yeah."

Kourtney's Long History of Food Rules

If you've followed Kourtney for even a minute, you know she's been about that clean-eating and no-toxic life for years. She's cut out dairy, gone gluten-free, and sworn off processed sugars. She's also made it clear that she doesn't allow her kids—Mason, Penelope, Reign, and Rocky—to eat fast food.

Back in 2019, she proudly shared that her kids had never eaten McDonald's fries, saying, "Today I was having one of those nostalgic days and I was like, 'Do you want to try it?' They were like, 'How dare you put this in front of me?' They know it's not good for you."

That same year, she got a major side-eye from "KUWTK" fans when she scolded Kim for serving her kid's candy at a birthday party. "There's just better solutions than that. It's like, we're not gonna grow up and be like, 'I wish I had more candy,'" she argued.

Her dedication to keeping things clean has even extended to her pregnancies. While expecting her fourth child with Travis Barker, she stuck to her all-natural lifestyle, making it clear that she wasn't about to bend her rules, no matter how strong the cravings got.

The Tween Rebellion Has Begun

Now that Penelope is officially in her pre-teen era, it looks like she's ready to challenge her mom's rules. And honestly, can you blame her? She's growing up surrounded by cousins who get to eat whatever they want while her mom is out here analyzing food labels like it's a full-time job.

Even Kourtney might be realizing that it's impossible to police everything. If she's already giving in to Gatorade battles, who knows? Maybe one day, she'll even let Penelope have a Happy Meal.
