George Clooney is willing to do whatever it takes to nail a role, even if that means his wife and kids laughing at how he looks.
The 63-year-old actor was spotted going into the Broadway theater this week, where he is performing in Good Night, and Good Luck. The play is based on his 2005 film of the same name which he previously wrote, directed, and starred in.
For the role, the beloved star made an attempt to look more like the George Clooney of 20 years ago by dyeing his signature salt and pepper hair brown. Clooney greeted fans outside as he headed into the Winter Garden Theater, where the play is in previews ahead of its April 3 premiere. According to the Daily Mail, he also joked with fans that he's feeling old as he signed their playbills.
The Ocean's 11 star also admitted that his wife Amal Clooney, 47, and kids, twins Alexander and Ella, seven, hate his new look.Just last month, he said that he anticipated his family wouldn't be happy about the change in his appearance.
"My wife is going to hate it because nothing makes you look older than when an older guy dyes his hair," George said during an interview with The New York Times in February. "My kids are going to just laugh at me nonstop."
In the show, Clooney will portray CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow and has had to cover up his usual handsome salt-and-pepper hair with a dark brown dye. George appeared to have recently dyed his hair for the role, as he appeared to still have his iconic silver hair when he was spotted late last month in New York City, though he wore a hat on that outing.
Two decades ago, Clooney's film was a hit at the box office, grossing $54.6 million against a $7 million budget, and it earned six Oscar nominations, though it went home empty-handed. Now, it could receive the recognition it deserves with Tony awards following its run on Broadway.
