O'Donnell has been living in Ireland for the past two months and is working on acquiring her Irish citizenship

O'Donnell shared the statement on her TikTok, revealing that she's been living in the country with her child Clay. "I'm here in Ireland, and it's beautiful and warm – not physically, it's actually quite cold," she said. "Moved here on Jan. 15, and it's been pretty wonderful, I have to say."

She revealed she was in the process of acquiring her Irish citizenship, something that she has access to thanks to her grandparents, who were Irish.

"Although I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that's what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child,"  said O'Donnell.

O'Donnell left the country due to politics

O'Donnell explained that she left the country due to politics, calling the past months "heartbreaking." She said that while she's living with her youngest child, she still misses her older kids and the remainder of her family.

"I miss my other kids. I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home. And I'm trying to find a home here in this beautiful country," she said. She's the mother of five kids: Parker, 29, Chelsea, 27, Blake, 25, and Vivienne, 22, whom she shares with her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter. She also shares Dakota, also known as Clay, with her late ex-wife Michelle Rounds.

O'Donnell made it clear that, for the time being, Ireland is her home, and she won't be moving back to the US unless the political situation changes.  "When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that's when we will consider coming back," she said.

O'Donnell follows in the footsteps of other artists and celebrities who've left the country recently, including Ellen DeGeneres, Richard Gere, and Eva Longoria.
