Karla Sofía Gascón, above all, is grateful. Despite recent controversies over her tweets, the Spanish actress attended the Oscars as a Best Actress nominee for Emilia Pérez. Opting to skip the red carpet, she went directly to the Dolby Theatre to enjoy the evening with her wife, Marisa Gutiérrez, and daughter, Victoria Elena. Unexpectedly, she was part of the opening jokes.

As the host, Conan O’Brien, playfully acknowledged her presence, quipping, “If you’re going to tweet about the Oscars, my name is Jimmy Kimmel,” as Gascón kept her composure.

After the ceremony, a more relaxed Gascón expressed her gratitude for the nomination and cleverly responded to the evening’s jokes. “Thanks to the Academy members for the nomination as Best Actress and the invitation to the gala. I enjoyed it very much, very entertaining and fun, especially its fabulous host, Jimmy Kimmel, he is fantastic, every day he resembles the great Conan O’Brien more.”

An evening with Madonna: A post-Oscar celebration

Afterwards, Karla enjoyed the post-gala parties. One of the first to console the actress was Madonna, amidst all the controversy. “I want to thank you for all the love you’ve given me, for your invitation to the party you threw after the Oscars, and for your words of love and strength,” Karla wrote. And she added: “I love you.” Madonna loved Emilia Pérez, saw it twice, and was moved when she met Sofía Gascón after the film screening in New York.

The actress from Alcobendas then dedicated a touching message. “When I entered the room, you hugged me so deeply it broke my heart. I don’t like to see people cry, and with this movie, I can’t stop. I hold in my soul this special moment and the beautiful photographs we took together, which I hope will soon see the light of day. Much success and love,” Karla said. Finally, one of those photographs has come to light as a token of gratitude.

A mystery gift: Post-Oscar surprise

Gascón also joked about some her post Oscar parties experiences after returning home. In an Instagram story, she wrote, “Last night was amusing, to say the least. I think it’s important to laugh at ourselves.” She detailed how, after consuming some snacks and a lemon soda received as gifts, she felt unexpectedly dizzy. Initially attributing it to fatigue, her condition worsened. “I started eating sweets to counteract a drop in blood sugar and felt increasingly odd,” she noted. After checking, she discovered she had inadvertently consumed a beverage containing THC, leading to her symptoms. Like her sweet encounter with Madonna, this story will surely be remembered.
