Penélope Cruz will not be attending the 2025 Goya Awards ceremony. Although her presence was confirmed, the actress is unable to attend the event, which is taking place on February 8 in Granada, due to illness with the flu. This information was shared by the Film Academy, which noted that Javier Bardem's wife deeply regrets "not being able to be present for such a special night for Spanish cinema. I was looking forward to traveling to Granada to reconnect with my colleagues and celebrate their work."

The acclaimed actress, a three-time Goya winner, was set to play a significant role in presenting one of the most prestigious awards of the night. However, she ultimately had to decline the opportunity due to her illness. Her husband, Javier Bardem, is still listed among the invitees and will present another award.
