"I'm filled with gratitude," Saldaña expressed as she stood on stage to the applause of the audience. Clearly moved, the star took a moment to thank the film's director, Jaques Audiard, for trusting her with the role, as well as her fellow nominees, Selena Gomez and Spanish actress Karla Sofía Gascón, who was also nominated for Best Actress.

“I don’t have much time, and I have dyslexia, so I tend to forget when I’m really anxious and I’m filled with adrenaline, but my heart is full of gratitude,” the actress started her speech. ”Thank you so much to the Golden Globes for celebrating our film and honoring the women of Emilia Pérez. This is the first time for me, and I’m just so blessed that I’m sharing this moment with Selena, Karla, Jacque, and all of my fellow nominees. I’m in awe of you, your strength, your complexity, and your undeniable talent.”

Emilia Pérez is leading this year's nominations with ten, including a nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for Karla Sofía Gascón. If she wins, she would become the first Spanish woman to receive a Golden Globe and the first transgender individual to do so in any film category.

Zoe Saldaña stands as one of Hollywood's most renowned figures, and this Sunday, she made history by becoming the first Dominican to receive a Golden Globe.
