Chris Martin has made a rare comment regarding his relationship with Dakota Johnson.
The pair, who've been romantically linked since 2017, shared news of their engagement in 2024. Now, after rumors of a split, Martin has addressed his relationship with Johnson, revealing that despite anything that might be going on, the two are close friends.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Martin opened up about the people he trusts the most in his life and his best friends, sharing a list of names that included Johnson.
“Phil [Harvey], Dakota, Jonny [Buckland], Will [Champion] and Guy [Berryman],” he said.
Martin revealed that he didn't discuss his relationship with Johnson since it wasn't his story to tell,
Though Rolling Stone reported that Martin didn't want to discuss his relationship with Johnson, sharing that it wasn't his story to tell, the two had recently bonded over the release of the record "Golden Hour." He shared that the two listened to the record together.
“It is important to say that [romantic love] is such a big factor in everything, even though it feels right to keep it precious and private; I’m not denying its power,” said Martin.
Martin and Johnson's sweet relationship
While Martin and Johnson have long been private about their relationship, avoiding red-carpet appearances together and posts on social media, over the years, the two have made various comments that have shared a look inside their dynamic.
Last year, Johnson gave a speech at the Hope for Depression Research Foundation’s annual luncheon, where she opened up about her experience with depression and anxiety.
“A few weeks ago, I was having a low day," she said, as reported by our sister website HELLO! Magazine. "And my partner said to me, 'Are you really struggling?' and I said, 'No?'" She said that while she tried to hide her emotions, Martin could tell that something was wrong.
"He said, 'Baby, you are wearing a cats T-shirt.' As in 'Cats' the musical," Johnson said. "So, it turns out, I really was struggling. But that moment lifted me up and pulled me out of it."
