Miley Cyrus shares rare insight into her relationship with Gen Z musician Maxx Morando

Miley Cyrus is happy and in love, even if she’s not posting about it constantly on Instagram. The singer has been living a relatively private life over the last few years, and the same goes for her relationship with Maxx Morando.

Although they’ve been linked since November 2021, rare paparazzi and red carpet moments and occasional support on Instagram have left fans in the dark—a big contrast to her past romances, like her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. Viral memes of their red-carpet interactions still make their way to social media.

In a rare interview with Harper's Bazaar, the "7 Things" singer shared some insight into her musician boyfriend, saying, “He looks at life really differently than I do." Like Cyrus, Morando, who she called "the coolest kid in Brooklyn," is an artist. He's a producer and drummer who plays in the band Liily. “He’s very similar to me. We just don’t take life too seriously,” she says.

Cyrus also revealed she doesn’t have the password to her Instagram account, and her younger boyfriend is the one keeping her hip on memes. Miley is 32, and the musician is 26, making him a proud member of Gen Z, the generation that will hopefully save us all. “He grew up with a laptop. I had a desktop computer that I shared with my brothers and sisters," she said.

The Grammy winner and Morando also share a dog—with the help of Reddit. "Honestly, he’s raised our dog off Reddit," she shared, adding, "I’m like, 'Are you sure we’re supposed to be doing this?' And he’s like, 'On Reddit, it says blah, blah, blah.'”

As one of the biggest names on the planet, Cyrus recognizes his talent. Morando has two credits on her 2023 Grammy-nominated album Endless Summer Vacation. He was the producer of "Handstand" and co-producer of “Violet Chemistry.”

They’re also collaborating on her new album Something Beautiful, which she revealed is coming in 2025. He produced multiple songs and co-wrote what will likely be the title track, “Something Beautiful.”

It’s an ongoing theme for Cyrus, who has also worked with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, and ex-husband, Liam. “I worked with my dad forever. That’s how me and my ex-husband met each other. I’ve always worked with the people that I love. And Maxx just inspires me so much.”
