Paris Hilton is no stranger to setting beauty trends, but one of her most memorable hairstyles was not intentional. The 44-year-old entrepreneur has revealed that her early 2000s pixie cut, a look that quickly defined the era, was actually the result of a styling mishap that left her devastated in the moment.

During a recent interview, Hilton recalled bursting into tears on the phone with her sister, Nicky Hilton, after a Hollywood stylist cut off her signature, waist-length blonde locks without warning.

A Shocking Hair Transformation

Paris admitted the cut caught her completely off guard.

She told Us Weekly, “I was not paying attention, just like on my phone and then I looked up, and I had like long hair all the way down to my waist at this point, and I looked up and he had cut my hair all the way to my ears.

"I was so in shock, and I looked in the mirror, and I didn’t know what to say. (The hairstylist) is like, ‘Do you like it?’ and I went to the bathroom and called my sister, crying.”

Although she initially hated the look, Hilton later grew to appreciate it, using extensions to transform the pixie cut into a chic bob that quickly became her signature.

She said, “I got extensions to make it like a cute bob, and I liked it, but that was…yeah, that was not done purposely. Then it became a trend, and everyone started cutting their hair. So, I was like, ‘OK.’”

From Hair Disaster to Haircare Ambassador

Now, decades later, Hilton has embraced her beauty influence in a new year-long campaign, Paul Mitchell X Paris Hilton, described as a “love letter to professional hairstylists.”

Photos from the campaign showcase her modern glam, featuring a range of styles from a sleek blunt bob with dark roots to a high ponytail with a sideswept fringe and cascading golden waves.

In one look, Hilton channels retro Hollywood in a silky white slip with a pink robe, while another shows her serving sporty-chic style in a tennis outfit against a court backdrop.

Michaeline DeJoria, Paul Mitchell’s CEO, praised the star’s influence. He said, “Paris Hilton has been setting trends and breaking boundaries for decades. Her passion for beauty, authenticity, and giving back aligns perfectly with our values. We’re excited to partner with an icon who not only defines style but also champions purpose.”
