Our skin is the first thing that others see of us, so caring for it should be one of our top prioirities. taking the steps to care for you skin can reap many benefits in the long run and can help it continue to perform its top function of protecting us.

There are countless ways for us to help our skin: from vitamins to serums to the kind of foods we eat. Protecting and caring for our skin can take on many forms. We've gathered a list of things that will help make all the difference and leave you glowing!

Healthy fats

Contrary to what you think, your skin needs healthy oils. But it requires those healthy oils that help promote shine. In comes the avocado, which not only serves for a fabulous mask, but its rich flavor and promotes hydrated, firm and flexible skin. Additional healthy oils can be found in nuts, seeds and fish.

A lot of collagen

Did you know that your body converts the proteins you consume into collagen and keratin for the skin? If you are a fish lover and you eat salmon, sardines and tuna — you are on the right track! You can even add other proteins such as legumes (including lentils and chickpeas) to your menu.

Eggs are another component that can't be missing in your diet because they are rich in vitamin A, selenium and zinc. These desired nutrients help you avoid sun damage on the dermis and also on the innermost layers of the skin. They also help accelerate the healing of wounds caused by an injury.

Bye, bye wrinkles!

Talking about skincare cannot be without the discussion of vitamin E. It's a very necessary micronutrient because it works as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that prevents wrinkles, sagging and cancer. It works with vitamin C to strengthen cell walls. You can find it in extra virgin olive oil, as well as in eggs and avocados.

The skin requires a lot of vitamin C and omega 3 fatty acids as it ages due to her aiding in the production of collagen and how they help with sun protection.
