Queen Rania of Jordan, 55, has had an especially intense past week, both professionally and personally, following her latest trip to the United States. The Hashemite royal traveled to Washington, D.C., flying nearly 6,200 miles from her home in Amman, at the Al-Maquar palace complex, to the U.S. capital.
Her main reason for the visit was to attend the high-profile premiere of an ambitious documentary starring Melania Trump, with whom she has maintained a strong relationship in recent years.
The queen was among the most internationally prominent guests at the private White House screening of the biographical film, which brought together influential figures and well-known faces. Attendees included Apple CEO Tim Cook, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, New York Stock Exchange president Lynn Martin, Fiat heiress Azzi Agnelli, singer Nicki Minaj, model Georgina Rodríguez, and legendary former boxer Mike Tyson.
Rania’s presence at the event made perfect sense, especially since she appears in one of the documentary’s scenes. The moment shows her meeting with the U.S. First Lady in Palm Beach, Florida, in January 2025, where the two discussed initiatives focused on child protection. The gathering in the film took place just days before Donald Trump’s second inauguration and marked the third time Queen Rania and Melania Trump had met since first crossing paths in 2017.
During her stay in Washington, one of the world’s most stylish and admired royals also found time to meet with Usha Vance, the wife of Vice President J.D. Vance. “It was a pleasure meeting her,” Rania said of the encounter.
Still, the most emotional and meaningful moment of the trip was yet to come: reuniting with her youngest son, Prince Hashem. The royal, who just turned 21, is currently studying at Georgetown University, so it’s easy to imagine just how much his mother misses him.
“I’m very proud of the man you’ve become,” the queen told her youngest as the two posed for a sweet photo together. The snapshot also highlighted how much Hashem has changed physically, looking noticeably more muscular than when he was last seen publicly with his parents.
Adding even more significance to her visit to the U.S, the reunion coincided with Prince Hashem’s 21st birthday last Friday, the same day King Abdullah of Jordan celebrated his 64th. Queen Rania, as expected, marked the occasion by sharing sentimental messages for both of them, along with several personal photos from her family album.
