Wedding bells are ringing for Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling! Queen Elizabeth's eldest grandson is set to marry the NHS nurse. The couple shared their engagement news with HOLA! USA's sister brand HELLO! on Friday. "Mr Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips and Ms Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today confirmed their official engagement," a statement read.
"Both families were informed jointly of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement. Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales have been informed of the announcement. No date has been officially set for the wedding," the statement continued.
HELLO! published photos of the engaged couple, with Harriet's engagement ring on full display. Last month, the future husband and wife supported Peter's cousin Prince William at the Royal Charity Polo Cup 2025 and also attended Wimbledon. In June, Harriet joined Peter and the royal family at Royal Ascot, where she rode in a carriage along with her royal beau on the first day.
Peter, 47, is the son of King Charles' sister Princess Anne and her first husband Mark Phillips. He is currently 19th in line to the throne.
Peter and Harriet made their first public appearance as a couple in May 2024 at the Badminton Horse Trials. Per HELLO!, a friend of Peter's said at the time that the British royal family member had met someone "recently" and that they were "spending time together," but it was too early to be anything more at that stage. The month before, in April 2024, it was reported that Peter and Lindsay Wallace had split after three years together.
King Charles' nephew was previously married to Autumn Phillips, whom he shares daughters Savannah and Isla with. The former couple, who wed in 2008, separated in 2019, but did not publicly announce their separation until February 2020. In a joint statement, they said: "The decision to divorce and share custody came about after many months of discussions and although sad, is an amicable one. The couples first priority will remain the continued well being and upbringing of their wonderful daughters Savannah (9) and Isla (7)." Their divorce was finalized in 2021.
