Princess Olympia of Greece is celebrating her last year in her 20s! Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie-Chantal's daughter turned 29 on Friday, July 25. The Manners Begin at Breakfast author commemorated her firstborn's birthday with an adorable throwback photo on Instagram, showing Olympia dressed up as a princess in a pink dress and a fake tiara.
"Celebrating you today @olympiagreece 🩷," the doting mom wrote in the caption.
Crown Prince Pavlos also marked his daughter's special day with video of the two of them, drinks in hand. "Happy Birthday to my dear Olympia 🎂❤️ 🧿always smiling 💙🧿🥰," he wrote alongside the post, translated to English, adding, "Happy Birthday to my dearest Olympia 💙🧿💙🧿🥰🎂."
Olympia is the oldest child and only daughter of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess. Pavlos and Marie-Chantal are also parents to sons Prince Constantine-Alexios, Prince Achileas-Andreas, Prince Odysseas-Kimon and Prince Aristides-Stavros.
Olympia's father was one of 10 members of the Greek royal family who had their Greek citizenship reinstated late last year. On Dec. 23, 2024, the royal family's private office announced, "It is with deep emotion that, after thirty years, we hold the Greek citizenship again. The law of 1994 deprived us of our citizenship, rendering us stateless with all that this entails in terms of individual rights and great emotional distress."
Pavlos' father, Constantine II, who passed away in 2023, was the last King of Greece. He ascended the throne in 1964 and reigned until 1973. A republic referendum in 1974 brought the "Crowned Democracy of Greece to an end."
"Our father and our family fully respected the result of the 1974 referendum," the private office of the Greek royal family said in its announcement. "However, the provision of the 1994 law on citizenship, a result of the political status at the time, was not befitting of a former head of the Greek state and an institution that served the country faithfully. The passing of our father marked the end of an era."
"Prerequisite for the reinstatement of our nationality was to declare a surname thus, we chose the one chosen by our late uncle, Michel De Gréce, that was the only familiar one to us since our family never bore a surname," the announcement continued. "During the years we were deprived of our citizenship, we were driven by the duty and honor of serving our country with loyalty and devotion from wherever we were, with all our means. The same principles will continue to guide the course of our family."
