The one where Lady Kitty Spencer and her daughter Athena visited a place cemented in TV history! During a trip to New York City, Princess Diana's 34-year-old niece took her two year old to the building that served as the exterior of Monica Geller's apartment in the beloved sitcom Friends, which starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc.
On June 12, Kitty shared photos of herself—dressed in denim shorts, a white tee, sneakers and shades—holding her little girl across the street from the famous apartment located in Greenwich Village. "Anybody who knows me knows how happy this moment made me ❤️💙💛 Taking Athena to the ‘Friends’ apartment building ❤️💛💙 ," she captioned the pictures.
In a 2016 interview with Vanity Fair, Kitty told the outlet that she thinks she knows “every word to every episode of Friends.”
Kitty is the eldest of Diana's brother Charles Spencer's children. She married Michael Lewis in 2021, and welcomed her first child in April of 2023. However, it wasn't until Mother's Day in the UK the following year did Kitty reveal that she had had a child. In a post celebrating the holiday, Kitty wrote, "It’s the joy of my life to be your mummy, little one. I love you unconditionally 🤍 Happy Mother’s Day to those who celebrate today 🤍."
Athena turned 2 this past April. Kitty marked her little girl's second birthday with a touching tribute on Instagram. "Two years of you lighting up our world, my darling Athena 🤍 You are sunshine and joy and all things magic," Kitty penned alongside pictures of her daughter at a beach. "My little girl forever. How proud I am to be your mummy 🤍."
The proud mom continued, "I love you more than you could ever imagine or I could ever articulate 🤍."
Kitty previously admitted to Tatler in an interview with her sisters Lady Amelia and Lady Eliza Spencer that she does "a lot less" now that she has a child. "I’m much more selective because it’s not really free time any more. I’ve got to really want to do something," she said. "I’m happy with the balance."
In the same interview, Kitty described her daughter as "very outdoorsy and like a little spinning top." She also revealed that Athena is "very similar" to her aunts Amelia and Eliza. Kitty said, "It’s so funny…so cool for her when she has these two aunts that come bursting through the door. I don’t think she thinks there’s an age gap."
