The Prince and Princess of Wales celebrated 14 years of marriage on the first day of their visit to the Scottish Isles. The pair, who are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, spent their wedding anniversary on Tuesday on the Isle of Mull.

Among the different posts shared by the Waleses' social media accounts from the couple's first day of engagements was one romantic shot of Prince William and Catherine holding each other, with their backs turned to the camera. The image was accompanied by a personal message from the Prince and Princess, which read: "Wonderful to be back on the Isle of Mull. Thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome ❤️ W & C."

The royals' visit will continue on Wednesday. Kensington Palace previously stated that "during their visit to the Scottish Isles, Their Royal Highnesses will spend time with members of the local community reflecting on the power of social connection and the importance of protecting and championing the natural environment, two subjects which are close to both of Their Royal Highnesses’ hearts."

While visiting Aros Community Hall on Tuesday, William recalled visiting the island when he and Catherine were in college. According to HELLO!, the Prince said, "It was 2003 when we were here. We had a lovely time here – it's wonderful."

Scotland is a special place for the couple, as it’s where they first met as students at the University of St. Andrews. “We were friends for over a year first and it just sort of blossomed from then on,” Prince William said in their engagement interview. “We just spent more time with each other had a good giggle, had lots of fun and realized we shared the same interests and just had a really good time.”

In the same interview, His Royal Highness also admitted that when he first met Catherine he "knew there was something very special about her." William said, "I knew there was possibly something that I wanted to explore there. But we ended up being friends for a while and that was a good foundation."

The college sweethearts, who graduated from the university in 2005, got engaged in 2010 during a a private holiday in Kenya, and tied the knot in 2011 at London's Westminster Abbey. When the Princess of Wales revealed last year that she was undergoing a course of preventative chemotherapy, she said that having William by her "side is a great source of comfort and reassurance."

On his wife's 43rd birthday this past January, the heir to the throne called Catherine the "most incredible wife." In a heartfelt message to the Princess—who announced last September that she had finished her chemotherapy treatment— William penned, "To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you. W."
