Úrsula Corberó is opening up about the next step in her successful career. The fan-favorite actress recently filmed her latest movie 'El Jockey' in Argentina and talked about some of her biggest inspirations as she continues carving her own path and exploring new projects.

"Watching Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge, I dreamed of doing a musical," the actress told Fotogramas during her latest interview. In her newest film 'El Jockey,' which is a whirlwind of surrealism, absurdist humor, and free-spirited dancing, Úrsula gets closer than ever to that dream role.

The Spanish actress, who became a global sensation as Tokyo in La Casa de Papel, has been taking on different and intense challenges, including her roles in 'El cuerpo en Llamas' and Netflix’s 'Lift.'

Now, starring in 'El Jockey,' an Argentine film directed by Luis Ortega (El Ángel), Úrsula is diving into new territory. “It didn’t have anything to do with what the film ended up being,” she told the publication when talking about the first script she received.

She continued, "It was short, not even 90 pages, very vague. But I wasn’t worried. It asked more questions than it answered—which is what excited me."

The film, which debuted in Venice and has been released in Spain, required an uninhibited performance and incredible dance scenes, one of which, she revealed, happened before she even spoke a word on set. “I did all the dances in the first week. It was super therapeutic. I found the character physically, through movement, before anything else," she said.

The experience marked a shift in her career, coming from roles where control and precision were present. “It was a beautiful and liberating shoot,” she recalled. “I learned to let go. I was always trying to control everything, but here I had to trust, and that did me so much good.”

This wasn’t Corberó’s first time in Argentina, but it was her first time working professionally in Buenos Aires."It was special. I'd been going for years because of personal ties, but this was the first time I was there for work, with my own circle of friends. It helped deepen my relationship with the city."

During her interview, she talked about the films that inspired her love and passion for filmmaking, including iconic musical moments. The actress cited Uma Thurman and John Travolta’s twist in Pulp Fiction, Catherine Zeta-Jones behind the bars in Chicago, Jennifer Lopez, and of course, Nicole Kidman’s descent on the swing in Moulin Rouge.
