Jennifer Lopez and her out-of-the-spotlight son were spotted together earlier this week. In photos shared on Monday, Lopez and her 17-year-old son, Max, were seen leaving their car in Beverly Hills, showcasing their distinct approaches to fashion.
The pair was seen arriving at the emblematic Beverly Hills Hotel. Lopez was seen looking incredibly elegant, as she's wont to do, wearing a cream colored satin gown that she paired with open-toed heels and tasteful jewelry.
Lopez styled her hair long and straight, completing the look with a fluffy brown purse and some brown Aviator sunglasses.
In the case of Max, he looked informal yet showcased his approach to fashion, pairing a colorful Ralph Lauren t-shirt with black shorts and black pulled-up Nike socks. He completed the look with black sneakers and was seen holding on to his phone and arranging his long hair, resulting in a look that is full of character.
Max opts for a more private life than his twin, Emme, who's often photographed attending shows and events with their mom. In past months, Max has supported his mother at key events, like the premiere of the film "Kiss of the Spider Woman," which, according to Lopez, marked one of the toughest roles of his career. During these appearances, Max has showcased his sharp resemblance to his father, Marc Anthony.
Lopez and her strong relationship with her kids
Lopez and Marc Anthony welcomed their kids in 2008. The couple divorced in 2011, after remaining together for a decade.
Over the years, Lopez has discussed her relationship with her kids, including the challenges of raising them as a single parent. In an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Lopez opened up about a life-changing conversation she had with her twins during the COVID-19 pandemic. “They spoke to me, [and] they’re like, ‘You’re not a regular mom. You’re not here every day. You don’t drop us off and pick us up [like the other parents],' " she said. "And I realized how much they needed me there."
She revealed that while she focused on providing more for her kids, they needed more of her. "It wasn't just about me giving them a great life," she said. "It was about me being there for them all the time. I started trying to balance that a little bit more."
Lopez says that the conversation prompted a change in their relationship. "I just was like, 'Okay, you're gonna know — if you didn't know before how much I love you and that you were the main thing in my life — everything I do for you, you're gonna f------ know now,' " she said.
