Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have differing views on air travel. The married couple recently shared their thoughts in an episode of "Live with Kelly and Mark," revealing that Ripa is more lax and Consuelos is more strict, at least, according to her point of view.
"I want to run this by you — I think we could do well with this, an airport divorce," said Ripa in the episode. "You and I have different traveling philosophies, different traveling styles."
Consuelos seemed confused by Ripa's statement, prompting her to reveal that he likes to get to the airport very early, and then gets stressed out when people start to recognize them. "I don't say that. I don't get irritated," said Consuelos. "Don't put that out there. I'm very nice to people. That is not, that's not cool."
Ripa clarified that Consuelos didn't get upset with other people; instead, he turned his anxiety and frustration out on her. "No, I don't get irritated with you," he said. "I'm irritated with you right now for trying to throw me under the bus!"
Still, Ripa would not let it go, sharing a story of their experience in the TSA line, when Consuelos' pre-check had expired, and Ripa made the difficult choice to stay with him to keep him company. "So what I did was I stood in line with him, but the line was too slow, and he got irritated with me," she said.
Consuelos was shocked by his wife's words. "You know, it's funny. You go through life, 30 years, you know somebody, right? And then they tell a story, it's like, 'Who are you?'" he said. "Because I was there, and obviously she was there, but the perspective is so different. And that's the beauty," he said.
"The airport divorce is what we are definitely getting," Ripa joked.
Ripa and Consuelos continued to bicker over other topics
While Ripa and Consuelos moved on to discuss other topics, the pair continued to bicker throughout the show, including about the topic of washing a car by hand or taking it to the car wash. Ripa revealed that she rarely drives and that she believes that the person who gets the car dirty should be responsible for washing the car.
"Okay, so, how about inside the car?" said Consuelos, sharing that Ripa loves to put her bare feet on the dashboard without cleaning her prints after. "I’ve got to stretch!" she argued.
"We’re having a day today," summed up Consuelos after a pause. "You are going down!" said Ripa, making it clear that their conversation would continue after the show was over.
