Maggie Baugh’s 2017 stance on dating bandmates resurfaces amid Keith Urban dating speculation

Many people would be haunted by the idea that an interview with them at 17 was dug up

Long before Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s divorce became the talk of Hollywood, his guitarist Maggie Baugh had already made one thing very clear: no dating bandmates. However, there is a lot of speculation that she has since changed her tune.

Maggie and Keith have performed together since 2024

In a resurfaced 2017 interview with Piper’s Picks TV, a then-17-year-old Maggie had her own band. In the interview published to TMZ, she sat holding her guitar with a young interviewer who pointed out that she had cute boys in her band and asked if there was “any romance going on off stage.” “No, there’s not. Honestly," she said with a laugh.

Maggie's resurfaced interview from 2017 touched on dating bandmates

“There’s always been a rule, ‘You can’t date the band members,’ ’cause like what happens if we break up and then I lose the drummer," she said. Back then, she described her bandmates as “like [her] brothers” and “best friends,” emphasizing that her focus was entirely on music.

Fast forward to 2025, and suddenly Maggie’s words are being dissected amid speculation that she and Urban have gotten romantic since she started playing with him in 2024.

Neither Keith nor Maggie have addressed the speculation

After nearly 20 years of marriage, the singer and Academy Award winner announced their divorce last month. Just days prior, Maggie shared a now viral Instagram clip of them performing "The Fighter" on stage.

Urban swapped the lyrics from “baby, I’ll be the fighter” to “Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player,” flipping his hair with a grin while they laughed on stage. Maggie captioned it, “Did he just say that?”

Fans were divided, some calling the moment “trashy,” and others pointing to the fact that nothing has actually been confirmed yet. "What if you’re all wrong about these rumors and you’re just attacking an innocent young woman? What about that? Have you considered what it might be doing to her if you’re all wrong? Pack mentality isn’t cool," one user wrote on one of her posts.

Who is Maggie?

The singer is a multi-instrumentalist

A South Florida native, Maggie started violin at six, switched to country in middle school, and released her first record at just 13.

By 18, she moved to Nashville, toured extensively, appeared in Trace Adkins’ 2021 video "Where the Country Girls Are" alongside Luke Bryan and Pitbull, and leveraged TikTok with her viral “Finish the Lick” series, gaining nearly 400k followers.

She’s a multi-instrumentalist and clearly knows how to hustle amid chaos. Maggie has ignored the speculation, promoting new music and promising an "announcement."

Maggie didn't perform with Urban at his recent Pennsylvania stop, only intensifying speculation, but according to TMZ, she had been subbing for Natalie Stovall and just wasn't needed.
