Just when you thought Taylor Swift was out of the legal chaos between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, more news breaks. Apparently, Baldoni’s side is trying to revive Swift’s involvement again, and the singer may have to testify in a deposition after all.

Taylor Swift has been dragged into the case amid the news of her new album

According to documents obtained by Page Six on Friday, Baldoni’s lawyer claimed Swift had “agreed” to sit for a deposition, just not until after she drops her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3.

Ellyn S. Garofalo, one of Baldoni’s attorneys, claimed the deposition would need to take place between October 20 and 25 due to her "preexisting professional obligations."

Swift’s lawyers quickly clapped back, telling the judge she never agreed to be deposed at all. “My client did not agree to a deposition,” they wrote, stressing that if she is forced into one, she could only make time during that late October window. With Swift's recent engagement and an album on the way, this has to be the last thing she wants to add to her schedule.

Lively’s lawyers were having none of it, accusing Baldoni’s team of a media stunt. In their own filing, they called the move to extend the discovery timeline in order to depost Swift “outrageous.”

“The Wayfarer Defendants have repeatedly sought to bring Ms. Swift into this litigation to fuel their relentless media strategy,” they wrote, per PEOPLE, nothing they have "not come close to establishing good cause.”

Swift’s name first popped up in this case back in May. On May 9, news broke that she had been subpoenaed to testify in the 2026 trial, with Baldoni’s side floating claims that her testimony might center on a supposed ambush at Lively’s home involving Swift and Ryan Reynolds. Baldoni even released text messages in which Lively compared them to Game of Thrones “dragons."

Swift’s camp immediately shut down any speculation, issuing a statement to PEOPLE making it clear she had zero involvement in It Ends With Us. “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie,” the rep said. “She was not involved in any casting or creative decisions. She did not score the film. She never saw an edit or made any notes.”

They pointed out her only connection was licensing her song “My Tears Ricochet,” something 19 other artists also did, and accused Baldoni’s team of using her name “to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait.”

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's drama is never ending

By May 22, Baldoni’s lawyers quietly withdrew the subpoena, and Lively’s team proudly backed Swift, saying they’d continue to protect third parties dragged into the mess.

Their decision to drop the investigation on Swift came after they dropped a bombshell claim that Lively tried to pressure Swift into releasing a public statement of support by threatening to leak public texts. Lively's rep went on to claim Baldoni and his team tried to put Swift "at the center of this case since day one."

"Faced with having to justify themselves in federal court, they folded. At some point, they will run out of distractions from the actual claims of sexual harassment and retaliation they are facing," they continued.

Taylor Swift and Blake Lively seemed to had a fallout after the star's legal drama

There's been speculation since Swift got dragged into the mess with the leaked text messages that her friendship with Lively ended. An insider claimed that while they had "good times," their decade-long friendship has come to a head. “Right now, if Taylor had one wish, it would be that she never met Blake,” a source claimed to the Daily Mail in May.

"When Taylor looks back at their friendship, she realizes it wasn’t worth all the stress Blake put her through. She can now see all the red flags that should have been a warning to her,” the insider alleged.

They further claimed the "Shake it Off" singer feels "relieved the relationship is over." "She put up with Blake’s antics for too long because she’s a loyal friend. It took the ‘It Ends With Us’ drama to finally get her to pull the trigger on it," they continued.

Travis Kelce even unfollowed Lively's husband, Reynolds. The source said they are both over it, explaining, “Taylor and Travis are disgusted with Blake and Ryan and how they tried to use Taylor in their fight against Justin Baldoni,” the insider claimed.
