President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will be visiting Queen Elizabeth's final resting place during their second state visit to the United Kingdom. On Sept. 17, the couple is scheduled to visit St George’s Chapel, where they will privately lay a wreath on the tomb of the late monarch. The president and his wife will then be given a short tour of the chapel in Windsor and hear a performance from the chapel choir.

Monday, Sept. 8, marked the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's passing. Following Her Majesty's death in 2022, President Trump paid tribute to the monarch, writing on Truth Social: "Melania and I are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Together with our family and fellow Americans, we send our sincere condolences to the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom during this time of great sorrow and grief. Queen Elizabeth’s historic and remarkable reign left a tremendous legacy of peace and prosperity for Great Britain. Her leadership and enduring diplomacy secured and advanced alliances with the United States and countries……around the world."

"However, she will always be remembered for her faithfulness to her country and her unwavering devotion to her fellow countrymen and women. Melania and I will always cherish our time together with the Queen, and never forget Her Majesty’s generous friendship, great wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor. What a grand and beautiful lady she was—there was nobody like her!" he continued. "Our thoughts and prayers will remain with the great people of the United Kingdom as you honor her most meaningful life and exceptional service to the people. May God bless the Queen, may she reign forever in our hearts, and may God hold her and Prince Philip in abiding care."

On the day of the Queen's state funeral, Melania shared a message on her X account, along with photos of herself and King Charles' mother. "RIP Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II," the first lady penned. "We are grateful for your strength, grace, and dedication for over seven decades. I will always treasure the time we spent together."

Queen Elizabeth met with President Trump and Melania for the first time in 2018 at Windsor Castle. The following year in June, the couple paid a state visit to the UK at the invitation of the Queen, and in December of 2019, they reunited with Her Majesty at a reception for NATO leaders at Buckingham Palace.

The president's son Eric Trump has spoken about his father's admiration for the Queen. Eric told GB News in 2024: “What I can tell you is, my father had so much respect for the Queen, as did I."

The 45th and 47th President of the United States accepted an invitation for a second "unprecedented" state visit to the UK earlier this year. Previously speaking about the upcoming state visit, President Trump said, "So it's gonna be great and being with Charles and Camilla and everybody, I've gotten to know because of four years and now six months, gotten to know a lot of the family members. They're great people. They're really great people. And in that sense, I think that the UK is very lucky."
