Los Angeles glittered with both star power and purpose this weekend as This Is About Humanity hosted its 7th Annual Soirée.
Latino celebrities, including Xochitl Gomez, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Wilmer Valderrama, Annie Gonzalez, Diego Boneta, Demián Bichir, and Gloria Calderón Kellett, came together to celebrate community, culture, and compassion while raising critical funds to support families at the U.S.–Mexico border.
The evening, co-hosted by founders Zoe Winkler Reinis, Elsa Marie Collins, and Yolanda Selene Walther-Meade, honored the Rosenthal family for their years of longstanding support.
“This Is About Humanity’s 7th Annual Soirée is about joining together with our community and recommitting to our shared mission of working alongside our partners to ensure all families across the border are met with compassion and care”
A Celebration with Purpose
Yolanda continued, “We could not do this critical work without the dedication of our supporters, including all the amazing chefs led by Michelin Award Winning Lead Chef Javier Plascencia, who joined us on Saturday for the culinary showcase.”
That showcase became one of the evening’s highlights, with a Baja-inspired menu elevated by sommelier Lauren Plascencia’s pairings. Guests sipped Casa Dragones tequila cocktails, toasted with Condesa gin, sampled Roe caviar, indulged in Swiss confections from Läderach, and lingered over a Lovo Cigar station that added a bespoke touch of luxury.
Beyond the culinary showcase, the evening featured a lively paddle raise, custom luggage tags from Cale & Cael, and a portrait studio by Carlos Eric Lopez, creating an atmosphere that balanced fun and style with purpose.
Honoring the Rosenthal Family
The Rosenthal family was honored for their generosity and long-standing support, used the moment to recommit to the organization’s mission. “My family is so proud to partner with This Is About Humanity as they work to support impacted families," said Lily Rosenthal.
"While it’s humbling to be honored at last night’s soiree, it is also an opportunity to recommit to this essential work and we look forward to working alongside Elsa, Zoe and Yolanda as they ensure those that need resources and support, receive care.”
“Our soirée is about coming together in support of the incredible work we have been able to achieve and looking ahead to all that is still left to do,” added Elsa Marie Collins. “Without our supporters, we would not be able to ensure that every family is seen and supported.”
A Cause that Resonates
Co-founder Zoe Winkler Reinis shared, “Over the last seven years, This Is About Humanity has delivered over 2,000,000 meals. Last night’s event is a reminder of our continuing effort to ensure all families are met with compassion and care.”
Since its founding in 2018, This Is About Humanity has also reached 15,000 young people through mental health services, and provided education to children in more than 30 shelters across Tijuana. The organization has also extended wildfire relief in Los Angeles and championed programs supporting LGBTQIA+ youth.
In the end, the night was more than a celebration. It was proof that when culture, compassion, and star power come together, they can transform not just a room in Los Angeles, but the lives of families who need hope the most.
