Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are reportedly ramping up security ahead of their upcoming wedding after details of the event were leaked earlier this month.
Following the unexpected reveal of their wedding plans, Gomez is said to be prioritizing the safety of her high-profile guest list.
“Security for Selena’s wedding will be of the utmost importance because not only is she a public figure, many of the guests will be too,” an insider told the Daily Mail on Friday. With just weeks to go before the big day, the couple is opting to move forward as planned—despite the breach.
“If it wasn’t just two months away they’d think about changing the celebrations, but that’s an impossible task and they don’t want to delay the wedding and find a new location,” another source explained. “Instead, they’re doubling up on security to make the event as private as possible.”
The couple’s wedding plans were reportedly leaked on July 14, including the date, location, and guest list. According to the Daily Mail, the "Bad Liar" singer and the music producer, 37, plan to exchange vows this September in California in what’s expected to be a star-studded two-day affair.
“Selena and Benny’s wedding is going to be a two-day event in Montecito in September,” a source told the outlet. Invitations have allegedly already been sent out to the pair’s closest friends and family members. “Everyone invited has been asked to bring overnight bags to stay for the weekend,” the insider added.
Though the wedding is intended to be intimate, the guest list reportedly includes several major celebrities: “Although it’s for friends and family only, many on the friends list are huge celebrities, including Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, Selena’s co-stars from Only Murders In The Building, and music superstars who are Benny’s friends and some he’s also worked with.”
A second source said the couple chose September as the ideal time for the event due to Gomez’s increasingly busy schedule. Season 5 of her hit Hulu series, Only Murders in the Building, premieres on September 9.
Despite speculation that the date was set with Taylor Swift’s availability in mind, a third insider clarified that wasn’t the case: “Selena is not having her wedding to accommodate Taylor, but she wants her to attend and she would love for her to be able to go with Travis.”
Before the wedding leak, Blanco had hinted that plans hadn’t fully taken shape yet.
“We’re both working on so many things that we hadn’t even had time to get into it, but we’re so excited,” he told Jake Shane on the July 10 episode of the Therapuss podcast. “I think this summer, we’re going to sit down and be like, ‘OK, what are we doing?’”
Still, the producer made it clear the vibe of the event would be relaxed, promising it would be “chill” but “amazing.”
Gomez and Blanco got engaged in December 2024 after more than a year of dating. At the time, the Emilia Pérez star captioned a carousel of engagement photos with the words, “forever begins now,” while showing off her custom-designed ring.
